Isolation

How I got here? Nobody knows
Here I am, though
Wandering in a desert
No signs of life anywhere
No one here to keep me company
Just the sun and a few skeletons
Dying of thirst
There’s no water in sight
But I can’t die
Or at least not yet
What direction should I go?
Will it lead me to my fate?
As the sun will soon set,
It brings with it a cold wind
Coldness enters into my soul
The howling of a coyote sends fear up my spine
But I can not, I will not, give up hope
Or at least not yet
I wander the desert alone
How I got here? No one knows

Note: I actually wrote this at some point during high school. So, it was written between the years of 1998-2001.
