Break the Chains

I must break the chains that bind me
To this Infernal Hell
I need space to spread my wings
These demons come in shadows unseen
Only to hold me down
The sweet ambrosia fruit
Is so close to me
That I can almost taste its sweet nectar
Yet it is so very far
It drives me mad
Don’t tell me the dangers that lurk
I know them well
Your lies sound so beautiful to my ears
But I-
I am a curious being
I must break the chains that bind me to you
So that I may fly
Experience life to its fullest
And live with no regrets

Note: This too was written in high school. This poem was influenced by Arthur Rimbaud. I was a huge fan of Arthur Rimbaud in high school.
